LOS ANGELES — The Pleasure Chest will host two workshops this week at its flagship West Hollywood store.
Author and educator Joan Price will present two free workshops on sex and aging at West Hollywood adult boutique The Pleasure Chest on May 19-20. Price is the author of two books— “Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk about Sex After Sixty” and “Naked at Our Age: Talking Out Loud about Senior Sex.”
Price will present Sex After Fifty on Sunday, May 19 from 2-4:30 p.m. at the storied sex shop. Geared to people older than 50, the class will help attendees “take home new tools, techniques, and attitudes to help them experience sizzling and satisfying sex — with or without a partner.” She’ll follow up on Monday, May 20 from 6-8 p.m. with The 5 Biggest Myths About Sex & Aging, a discussion and release party for her new book, “Ageless Erotica,” a senior sex anthology.
Kristen Tribby, the Pleasure Chest’s director of creative development and strategy, said: “We’re honored to have Ms. Price come share her experience and insight with our customers. As educators, we are committed to promoting healthy, pleasurable and fulfilling sex at every stage of life, and Joan Price’s books and workshops are invaluable to our mission. If you are 50 or over or plan to be, these workshops will help you understand the issues surrounding sex and aging.”
Both events are open to adults of all ages, regardless of gender, orientation, experience level or relationship status. Those interested in attending can visit The Pleasure Chest’s Facebook event pages, here and here, for more information.
Sex educator Ducky Doolittle will present a free workshop on May 22from 8-10 p.m. Doolittle, an experienced sex educator, will draw on her expertise as a sexual assault and violence intervention counselor in this special class, geared to survivors of assault.
The class, entitled Sex for Survivors, “will discuss common issues survivors face and discover ways of growing beyond the trauma.” Attendees will “learn how to become more conscious in their bodies, build confidence, bond with partners, embrace desires, and explore healing through touch in a safe and non-judgmental environment.”
“We know that a significant percentage of our community has been affected in one way or another by physical or sexual assault,” Tribby said. “Ducky’s work is so important in helping survivors reclaim pleasure and sexual fulfillment. We’re committed to providing a safe space for survivors and the people who love them to come and discuss these issues with Ducky.”
