Performer/Director Nacho Vidal Pushing Condom Only Law in Spain

VALENCIA, Spain — No stranger to controversy, performer and director Nacho Vidal has taken what most in the adult industry would consider an unpopular position advocating a compulsory condom only use law in Spain.

The U.S. and Spanish porn star made his announcement, pushing for the new "safe and healthy sex" legislation act at Valencia’s Erotic Fair today. The expo opens to the public on June 9 and features more than 100 porn stars and 1,200 live shows.

According The Local, 150,000 people are infected with HIV in Spain according to the U.N. Aids organization and 79 percent of those cases are sexually transmitted — possibly influencing Vidal's stance.

Commenting on Vidal's announcement, Evil Angel general manager Christian Mann told XBIZ, "Evil Angel stands behind its directors' reasonable artistic and production choices. If Nacho Vidal feels that the climate in Spain makes this the logical move for his productions there, we support him and plan to distribute his movies as always."

Taking obvious advantage of a marketing opportunity, Vidal also said that all production of his erotic toys would take place in Spain to "help the country’s economy to keep afloat."

"Obviously I’ll earn less money like this [advocating condom only use]," Vidal said. "But money, much like size, is not what matters most."

But money apparently did matter to the Evil Angel director and performer in the past.

Last October, Vidal was one of 60 people arrested when Spanish police raided Chinese mob affiliated money-laundering businesses in Madrid and Barcelona that resulted in him facing capital and tax evasion charges.

At that time, Vidal's Spanish distributor for Evil Angel, Jaqueline Castillo of IFG International Film Group, denied the charges claiming that it was all a mistake and the star knew nothing of the illegal activity.

Nevertheless, Vidal’s new announcement is curious considering that in March he released a new web series "Big Dick Brother" on EvilAngel.com that features strangers living together in a house, shut out from the outside world. A movie that’s anything but condom equipped.
