TOKYO — Male pleasure brand Tenga has introduced a new line of vibrators for women called iroha.
Iroha made its domestic launch in April and will be available for wholesale purchase in the U.S. by late June. Liberator will be the official distributor of iroha for its stateside market, the company said.
According to Tenga, the delayed U.S. release date was a result of the product's succesful reception in its birthplace, Japan.
“Due to the overwhelming demand, backed up by the incredible consumer feedback of our domestic market in Japan, we had to push back the global launch of the new brand until summer 2013,” said Tsuneki Sato, Tenga U.S. sales director. “We are now confident with our production for the global launch and I’m glad to announce the U.S. will be one of the first countries to see our amazing product.”
The iroha line consists of three variations of a pastel-colored, palm-sized rechargeable vibrator: the Yuki, Midori and Sakura.
The Yuki model is white and snowman shaped and features a semi-insertable tip. Rounded and green, the Midori can be used as an all-over massager. The Sakura, cheery-blossom pink, allows you to strategically pinch errogenous zones with its indented tip.
Each vibrator is covered in a thick layer of soft silicone, repels dust and can be used under water, the website says.
The product site features an interview with gynecologist Dr. Keiko Matsumura, who answers common questions women might have about masturbation, and, in particular, using a vibrator.
“As in sex, repetition can at times become a cause for lowered sensations, so it is important to add fresh stimulus from time to time,” Matsumura said. “In the case of iroha, I see their shape and colors, as well as material, as something that a woman can easily implement in her life.”
