ATVOD's CEO to Discuss Porn Regs, Enforcement at XBIZ EU

LOS ANGELES — XBIZ is pleased to announce that Pete Johnson, the CEO of U.K. regulatory agency ATVOD, will discuss new rules and enforcement targeting adult entertainment companies at XBIZ EU.

The Q&A session, slated for Monday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m., is the kickoff seminar at XBIZ EU, which will be held at the Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Hotel in central London. The conference will be held Sept. 22-25.

“ATVOD CEO Pete Johnson will discuss the action ATVOD takes to enforce rules designed to ensure that U.K. providers of adult video-on-demand content keep hardcore adult material out of reach of children," ATVOD said. "He will also discuss some of the options open to policymakers if the issue of U.K. children accessing hardcore adult material on non-U.K. websites is to be addressed.”

Don Parret, XBIZ's executive editorial director, said that Johnson's session addressing rules and enforcement aimed at online and broadcast adult entertainment companies is a timely addition.

"Enforcement is expanding in the U.K. and likely will affect every adult entertainment company that draws revenue from the U.K. market," Parret said. "The content of U.S. and Canadian websites, as well as other non-U.K. entities, are under British jurisdiction when downloaded in the U.K., and ATVOD is considering tools to block payments of sites that don't have stringent age-verification barriers.

"Johnson will be able to explain what ATVOD is most concerned about and what adult entertainment companies need to work on to be in compliance with U.K. regs."

XBIZ EU is an international digital media conference that brings together business leaders from around the globe for three days of cutting-edge market trend seminars and technology workshops featuring A-list special guest speakers and exclusive networking special events.

Other seminars, workshops and special events will be announced in the coming weeks.

For a limited time, members of XBIZ.net qualify for free or discounted show registration based on their area of business. Attendees are encouraged to book their rooms at the Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Hotel early to ensure availability.
