NEW DELHI — More than 250 explicit video clips of couples caught on CCTV cameras installed in the city's subway station have been leaked to porn sites, spurring an investigation by the Delhi Metro Rail Corp.
"The DMRC is conducting a thorough inquiry into the reports of circulation of objectionable video clips,” senior official Anuj Dayal said. “The Delhi Metro management has taken serious cognizance of these reports and has already reported the issue to the cyber crime cell of the police.”
DMRC officials have accused the personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force, a body charged with metro security that has access to the CCTV footage, of leaking the clips.
But the four or five personnel that comprise the CISF fired back, denying their involvement and noting that the DMRC has even better access to the CCTV cameras installed in the trains.
CISF members also argued that some of the footage in question could not have been recorded with the metro’s CCTV cameras because several clips include sound, which the cameras on the train do not record.
Others mentioned that the videos on the adult sites seem to reflect better movement and flexibility than the metro cameras could afford.
Police are investigating alternative conjectures, including the possibility that someone entered the metro control rooms, recorded footage using their cellphone and uploaded it to the adult sites later.
