LOS ANGELES — Arrow Productions, the go-to studio for vintage and classic porn — and owners of the copyright to the legendary 1972 “Deep Throat” title — is suing the producers of the new “Lovelace” biopic, TMZ reported today.
Arrow claims that “Lovelace” used three scenes from the original “Deep Throat” flick without receiving their permission.
According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the studio had granted the producers of a similar film, “Inferno,” to use the scenes. When that film went belly-up, the producers converted the project into “Lovelace” — without obtaining the rights from Arrow.
Now Arrow wants to block the film’s release, slated for Friday, and seeks $10 million from the offending party.
Only yesterday, Arrow announced a commemorative deal on “Deep Throat” DVD sales to celebrate the arrival of the upcoming mainstream film.
