Private, Erotic Media Target German Surfers With Nightclub.de Launch

BARCELONA, Spain — Viewing Germany as a cash cow with an abundance of surfers seeking adult content, Private Media Group has set its sight on expanding its video offerings with a partnership with Erotic Media AG.

On Saturday, the companies are launching paysite Nightclub.de, which includes 130 Private Media hardcore and softcore titles, starting at about $17 a month.

Spain-based Private Media and Erotic Media AG of Switzerland in the multiyear deal also are offering content on video-on-demand platform Maxdome.de, which allows consumers to connect their computers to TVs via a set-top box.

Private Media CEO Berth Milton said that the deal between the two companies is the first in a series of agreements across Europe but that the German deal was imperative because the country has a high number of broadband consumers.

“It’s the biggest broadband market in Europe, so it's an ideal territory for new media initiatives and it is our strategy to get involved early with many of these initiatives,” said Milton, who noted that Nightclub.de represents the first extensive VOD package available to adult subscribers in Germany.

“We immediately saw the potential of Nightclub.de and its powerful backing,” he said.
