The first titles to be broadcast to the Latin American market under the deal are “Bad to the Bone,” “Naughty Girls,” “In Deep” and “Drive,” the first hardcore productions from Penthouse’s new Glendale, Calif., studio under the direction of Kelly Holland.
CED launched the Penthouse programming in blocks on Sky TV’s “TV Hot” in Mexico as well as DirecTV in Brazil. Other networks, channels, systems and lodging operations will follow. In addition to the Penthouse offerings, CED will supply these outlets with blocks of adult Japanese animation and content from Digital Playground and Playgirl. Other studios will follow, according to CED’s Marc Bruder.
“We want to see which brands create viewer loyalty and warrant their own 24/7 channels,” Bruder told XBIZ.
CED has been providing adult content for the Latin American region, including large markets in Brazil and Mexico, for a dozen years. Bruder said CED is concentrating on ”upper-level, high-quality” brands as it launches new channels. The company will introduce Latin America to Digital Playground with an event built around the broadcast premiere of “Pirates,” to be followed by blocks of other Digital Playground programming.
CED had previously been the worldwide broadcast distributor for Penthouse when the company was still under the control of founder Bob Guccione.
