HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Attendees of last weekend’s CatalystCon West strapped in for an extra-special sex-education conference with seminars, special events, and one-on-one demos from Sportsheets.
The team, helmed by company founder and CEO Tom Stewart, helped “inspire exceptional conversations” with this unique community of sex educators, researchers, activists and more.
Sportsheets joined a who’s who of the sex-positive movement — including author and director Tristan Taormino, former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders, and Center for Sex and Culture co-founder Carol Queen — for a meeting of the minds. And staying true to its expertise, the Sportsheets team invited attendees to its 2,000-square-foot Discovery Center to learn more about soft bondage and strap-on play.
Maintaining a special focus on strap-ons and pegging, Tom Stewart also joined a lineup of sex educators and writers for the “Ass Panel: The Ins and Outs of Anal Pleasure,” as well as a special presentation with Tantus founder Metis Black to discuss the importance of using sex education as a sales tool on the retail side of sex.
“At CatalystCon West we are able to reach a special segment of the community and strengthen our relationships with the magical minds behind the ongoing sex-positive movement,” Tom Stewart said. “These are the men and women behind policy change, adult industry activism, and maintaining momentum to make the world a happier and healthier place. It’s an honor to work alongside this caliber of people and provide tools and materials to help them along the way.”
Sportsheets also hosted Sex Trivia with Tantus and gave attendees a fun way to refresh their minds with facts all about sex.
“We share a mission for promoting sexual health and happiness with Tantus, and co-hosting Sex Trivia was a natural fit,” Sportsheets President Julie Stewart said. “We held three games with interactive Jeopardy®-style buzzers and the competition was fierce — especially because Googling wasn’t allowed!”
Julie Stewart also was interviewed in front of a live audience by Tristan Taormino for her weekly “Sex Out Loud” radio show on VoiceAmerica.com and answered questions from the audience about exploring all aspects of sexuality. One audience member shared that she was thrilled to have found Sportsheets products after trying numerous other brands and now acts as an unofficial Sportsheets cheerleader. The interview can be heard in full on Friday at 5 p.m. PDT.
“It was a thrill and honor to be a part of CatalystCon West and hear stories from so many strong men and women in this field with a special closing keynote by Dr. Joycelyn Elders, who has played a dramatic role in this sexual health revolution,” Julie Stewart said. “Thanks to all — event founder Dee Dennis, Metis Black, Tristan Taormino and all of the supporters we were able to see face to face, in addition to all the new friends we made.”
Next the Sportsheets team will fly to Germany for the annual eroFame trade show where the booth will showcase Sportsheets, Sex & Mischief, Sex In the Shower and the Manbound collection of restraints.
