WET Lubricant Provides 100K Safe Sex Kits for Chicagoland Campaign

CHICAGO — As the exclusive lubricant sponsor of the Chicagoland HIV Testing Collaborative’s (CHTC) Step Up. Get Tested. campaign, WET personal lubricant is distributing 100,000 Safe Sex Kits containing a condom and WET Platinum lubricant.

More than 1.1 million people in the U.S. are infected with HIV, and more than 200,000 don’t even know it, according to Center for Disease Control estimates.

The campaign begins on June 5 with mobile HIV testing all across the Chicago area and culminates on July 4. The citywide event is supported by 30 partners including the Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois Departments of Public Health, in addition to Chicago-area hospitals, community health centers and community-based organizations. In 2012, Step Up. Get Tested. made 40,000 contacts in one month and tested nearly 6,000 people.

“We’re proud to be the exclusive lubricant sponsor for Step Up. Get Tested.,” said Michael Trigg, founder and CEO of Trigg Labs, makers of WET Lubricant. “We hope our safe sex kits will increase public awareness to reduce the stigma associated with getting tested for HIV. It’s so important to get educated, tested, and to know your current HIV status. Information is power and with that information you can protect others and get the proper treatment and counseling to live long and healthy lives.”

Since its founding in 1989, Trigg Labs has donated millions of dollars (cash and product) to more than 300 non-profit organizations worldwide.

Step Up. Get Tested. events will be held across Chicago from June 5-July 4, providing free rapid HIV testing, education and support resources. To find a testing event near you, visit StepUpGetTested.com.
