“The new channel will be blocks of branded programming,” CED’s Marc Bruder told XBIZ. “We’re calling it The Eclectic Channel. Down there [in Latin America] it’s called something I can’t pronounce in Portuguese. It’s been launched in some areas and will go wide in the next 60 days.”
CED is firmly established in Latin America through Sky TV’s “TV Hot” in Mexico, where it launched Penthouse programming last summer.
“We deal with Direct TV, Global Sat and Sky systems throughout Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile and El Salvador,” Bruder said. “This year we showed the new remastered ‘Deep Throat,’ Carmen Electra, the Naked Women Wrestling League and a few other events.”
Bruder also said CED is working with Entice TV, with whom they signed earlier this year, on an expanded IPTV lineup.
“Entice TV has a new system that delivers IPTV programming,” Bruder said. “There are a lot of IPTV systems out there now where you can access a digitial high-def movie on your computer. What’s coming is that you can play it on your big screen TV. To me, that looks like the replacement to the video store.”
Entice TV is just starting to decode and deploy this system, according to Bruder.
