Sex Z Pictures Weighs in on ‘Corruption’ Controversy

LOS ANGELES — Sex Z Pictures has denied allegations that their new movie “Corruption” is being returned by numerous retailers frightened of obscenity prosecution for selling the movie.

The charge, which appeared in this morning’s LukeisBack.com website, alleged that the fisting scenes in “Corruption” are frightening buyers into returning the movie.

“We’re not quite sure where that is coming from, but ironically the exact opposite is happening,” Jeff Mullen of Sex Z Pictures told XBIZ. “With the more fan-friendly version of ‘Corruption’ set for a store release the week following Thanksgiving, orders from a number of large distributors who didn’t want to pick up or reorder the current version of the title due to swirling controversy, now have placed large orders for ‘Corruption.’”

Mullen explained that the retailers have said they are simply waiting “for something that is a little more favorable to the political climate.”

But Mullen said that there have been some returns.

“There have been a handful because of a couple of reviews,” he said. “People get nervous about local prosecutions and things like that.”

Buyers have been nervous about fisting ever since Seymore Butts was prosecuted by Los Angeles for obscenity in 2001, but legal experts point out that those charges were made against gonzo movies, while “Corruption” contains a story line that would make it difficult to prosecute for having no socially redeeming value.

Sex Z’s attorney, Paul Cambria, was not available for comment at post time.
