Aneros Co-Sponsors University of New Mexico’s Sex Week

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Sexual health and wellness company Aneros is co-sponsoring the University of New Mexico’s Sex Week seminar series that kicks off today.

The event, hosted by the UNM Women’s Resource Center and Self Serve, an Albuquerque adult retail store, is a four-day-long series of activities and seminars aimed at educating students about positive ways of interacting with sexual partners, as well as sexual etiquette in the bedroom.

As a co-sponsor, Aneros will provide its prostate massager, Eupho Syn, and hands-free Kegel exerciser, EVI. The products will be raffled away at the conclusion of tonight's seminars.

“We’re very pleased to co-sponsor this educational event allowing students to become more educated about sex and how to interact in a positive way,” Aneros CEO CT Schenk said.

Event co-organizer and Self Serve Store Manager Hunter Riley said she is excited to have Aneros participate and bring its products to this year’s event.

"UNM Sex Week is thrilled to have such quality sponsors for our first year's event,” Riley said. “Aneros makes some of the most functional and well-designed products in the sex toy market, and we're overjoyed we get to promote those products to UNM students to give them the opportunity to enhance their sexual relationships with themselves and others,"

Riley told XBIZ that the event series has caused some controversy (picked up by the mainstream media) due to provocative workshop titles like "How to Negotiate a Successful Threesome" and "How to be a Gentleman and Get Laid."

Riley explains that the titles were selected expressly to catch students’ attention and draw them into the lectures.

“Some folks are also confused about how these workshops help prevent sexual assault,” she said. “Many of the workshops will address getting consent in a sexual situation, and how that can also make you a better sexual partner.”

She adds, “If students can't talk about sex and sexuality comfortably and with confidence, how should they be expected to talk about rape and sexual assault if they need to? We are simply offering safe, medically accurate information to students, as we know many people in college are having sex.”
