NEW YORK — Manufacturer Electric Eel has invested in a 3D printer, on which it plans to develop future pleasure product designs.
3D printing, sometimes called “additive manufacturing,” is a process of making three-dimensional solid objects from a digital file by using additive processes.
A printed object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the entire object is created. Each layer within the printed object appears as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the object under construction.
Similar to how a standard computer printer prints out a two-dimensional sheet of paper from a file containing text and/or images, 3D printers “print out” three-dimensional objects.
Electric’s new 3D printing capabilities will enable the company to experiment with unique new designs for its range of pleasure products, a rep for the company explained.
Among Electric’s most popular items are Hustler branded toys and lingerie. Electric also produces Lux Fetish BDSM accessories, Ann Devine, Blue Line underwear for men, Glas specialty glass pleasure products, and more.
