The new satellite-channel brand will integrate both companies’ adult channels in the Brazilian market and include Globosat’s Sexy Hot, For Man and Playboy TV Latin America’s Playboy TV, Playboy TV Movies, G Channel, Venus, Venus XXL, Private, Spice Digital Networks, Fresh!, Shorteez and Xcess.
“The combination of Playboy TV, Venus, Private and Spice with Sexy Hot and For Man will make us stand out as providers of adult content in Brazil and will allow us to better serve the audience with a wider variety and better quality of local and international content,” said Alejandro Iglesias, the general manager of Playboy TV Latin America. “[The deal] will allow us to better serve the audience with a wider variety and better quality of local and international content.”
Portuguese-speaking Brazilians are familiar with Playboy, with its Playboy Brasil magazine now in its 32nd year of publishing.
Miami-based Playboy TV Latin America is a joint venture between Claxson Interactive Group Inc. with 81 percent and Playboy Entertainment Group Inc. with 19 percent.
Globosat has operated cable and satellite services since its creation in 1991.
