LOS ANGELES — Duke University student and teen porn sensation Belle Knox has received the 2015 XBIZ Award for “Marketing Campaign of the Year.”
The 2015 XBIZ Awards, hosted by adult film superstar James Deen, was held inside a cutting-edge special events venue located in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, January 15.
“I’m so honored XBIZ has recognized all of my hard work over the past year!” says Belle. “I was at the forefront of a national scandal, and had so many people help me craft my message into something which speaks to so many issues since I was thrust into the national spotlight.”
18-year-old Duke University student Belle Knox, the nation’s most famous university-student-turned-porn-star, became national headline news in early March of 2014, after being exposed and shamed as an adult performer by a fellow classmate. The resulting on-campus drama resulted in Belle taking full charge of the situation, by writing an article for www.xojane.com.
A yearlong media blitz followed, with interviews on The View, Huffington Post Live, The Bethenny Frankel Show, Good Day New York, FOX News, and countless radio shows across the country, as well as by Howard Stern, John Stossel, Piers Morgan, and more. The starlet has also been the focus of articles in Time Magazine, The NY Times, and Rolling Stone, a storyline for an episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and the focus of a Conde Nast documentary, “Becoming Belle Knox.”
On the adult industry side, Belle entertained countless offers from production companies and pleasure products manufacturers, made public appearances in the form of signings and feature dance bookings, and her on-camera performances were turned into multiple star showcase projects. She ended the year as she had started, back in the mainstream media spotlight, as Suffolk County politician Steve Bellone was discovered to have followed the star on Twitter.
Belle Knox’s story is of triumph over shame, and all eyes have been on the teen porn performer and intelligent, empowered, brand-aware starlet at every turn, from both mainstream and adult media.
“My marketing team has been nothing short of amazing, and I can’t thank them enough for being part of my journey — to help turn what could have been extremely negative into something empowering and positive,” Belle adds. “This has been an incredible year for me, and I am definitely looking forward to what 2015 will bring.”
