NEW YORK — CBS’ national program “The Morning” aired a segment last week that showcased the “Pioneering Pleasure” VIP event that was hosted at The Pleasure Chest’s Upper East Side location earlier this month.
The adult boutique partnered with luxury pleasure product manufacturer Jimmyjane and Upper East Side staple Resident Magazine for a party that gave locals a chance to check out the store while enjoying complimentary drinks and entertainment.
The Upper East Side store is currently featuring “Pioneering Pleasure,” an exhibit that highlights the innovations of both The Pleasure Chest and Jimmyjane in making pleasure products appealing, culturally accepted, and making sexual education more accessible.
Focusing on adult product sales after the release of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “The Morning” showcased The Pleasure Chest’s extensive kink section and included an interview with Jimmyjane President Robert Rheaume, who showed off the company’s “A Darker Shade of Sexy” kit curated for fans of the movie.
“We’re anticipating a renewed interest in pleasure products surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey’s release, just as there was when the book became a bestseller,” commented Sarah Tomchesson, The Pleasure Chest’s Director of Business Development and Strategy. “We want our neighbors to know that there’s a comfortable, fun place nearby where they can come with their questions.”
“’Fifty Shades’ has given new audiences permission to push the boundaries of sexual exploration,” said Alicia Sinclair, Jimmyjane's vice president of worldwide sales and business development. “We are seeing growing consumer demand for quality toys, but customers are also growing more adventurous. With the Hello Touch X, we’ve taken a toy that people already love and enhanced it with some extra kink.”
“Pioneering Pleasure” will be on display through Feb. 28. The Pleasure Chest Upper East Side is located at 1150 2nd Ave.
