Jimmyjane Talks 'Fifty Shades' With Mainstream Media Outlets

SAN FRANCISCOFollowing the release of three new items, Jimmyjane has been bringing pleasure products into the public conversation with ample mainstream media coverage.

With “Fifty Shades of Grey” shining the spotlight on pleasure products, media outlets turned to Jimmyjane for commentary and context regarding the film’s impact on the industry.

Jimmyjane’s President Robert Rheaume spoke to "CBS This Morning" in a lengthy segment that aired to a national audience. Other leading publications, including The New York Times, AdWeek and USA Today also contacted Rheaume for commentary on the film’s cultural impact and consumer trends.

“It is a pivotal time for the industry, in which sexuality has been taken out of the shadows and become a part of the daily conversation,” Rheaume said. “Jimmyjane has always aimed to create approachable, quality, body-safe products that invite new audiences to explore and enhance their sexual wellbeing and relationships. This film has given consumers and media alike permission to embrace sexual exploration unlike ever before.”

The release of “Fifty Shades of Grey” comes on the heels of three timely new product releases from Jimmyjane, including the FORM 5 Waterproof Rechargeable Vibrator, Hello Touch X and the “A Darker Shade of Sexy” set of luxury fetish accessories, specifically designed for the film’s audience.

Jimmyjane’s Hello Touch X was one of just two sex toys highlighted in a full-page feature in Wired Magazine’s first-ever Sex Issue. The tech connoisseurs at Gizmodo described the product in glowing terms in an article titled, “The Best Sex Toy Ever Invented Just Got Kinkier.”

Mainstream media embraced the new items. Jimmyjane’s product line appeared in Valentine’s Day round-ups and feature stories across the web, including Elle, Marie Claire, Forbes, Huffington Post, Refinery29, MSN, New York Magazine, Vice and Maxim.

Giuliani Rancic shared Jimmyjane’s Afterglow Candles on her personal site, following an appearance on E! News, in which the celebrity host and style expert raved about the candles.

“It is always an honor to be featured in the press,” continued Rheaume, When the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ book was at its peak in the summer of 2012, Jimmyjane saw a 40-percent increase in YOY sales online. The real story is the cultural shift and openness from consumers towards our products, and the category as a whole. The film has been a catalyst for media discuss the broad spectrum of sexuality, and we are very grateful to be a part of that conversation.”
