Ofcom Probes Bondage Tutorial on U.K. Morning TV Show

LONDON — British communications regulator Ofcom, acting on about 120 viewer complaints, plans to probe daytime TV show “This Morning” after it offered a lesson titled “Bondage for Beginners” featuring sex toys and bondage equipment.

The ITV network’s mainstays on the program, Christine Bleakely and Philip Schofield, brought on sexpert Annabelle Knight who showed off the sex toys and bondage equipment while having models demonstrating how to use them.

Apparently, for some, the depictions of models with eye masks, bodywands and leash and collars were too much.

Now, Ofcom said it was investigating whether the program, broadcast last month, was suitable to be shown before the 9 p.m. watershed.

“Ofcom has opened an investigation into whether an item about ‘bondage for beginners’ was suitable for broadcast before the watershed,” Ofcom stated.

A spokesperson for “This Morning” responded: “This Morning is a lifestyle program that covers a diverse range of human interest topics. The program has dealt with advice on sexual matters many times in the past, and a suitable announcement was given at the start. Many of our items spark debate and we welcome feedback from our viewers about our content.”
