LOS ANGELES — Marley Brinx admits she did not expect to hear back from anyone at the porn studio Mofos after sending them some naughty selfies last year.
A casual porn fan and swinger from Toronto, Brinx reached out to the company in December through their website, saying she was looking to get into the adult industry.
“It was kind of like a joke,” Brinx recalled. “I didn’t think anyone would contact me, but within two hours they got back to me and asked if I wanted to come to Miami or if I would mind if they came to Toronto.”
“I said, ‘Of course, come to my hometown, it’d be more comfortable for me.’ I pretty much made my decision at that moment that I was going to do this.”
The 20-year-old brunette shot her first two porn scenes in December in Toronto, one for Mofos’ “Pervs on Patrol” series and the other for their “I Know That Girl” line. She performed with her boyfriend of six years who used the stage name G Baby.
“Everything went amazing,” Brinx said. “After that, I asked them, ‘Where do I go from here? What do I do now?’”
The Mofos producers told her she could either try to find more work on her own or sign with a talent agency. So after some research she connected with L.A. Direct Models, which Brinx said “accepted me with open arms.”
She arrived in Porn Valley in February and the bookings picked up soon after she landed.
“That would be the understatement of the year,” L.A. Direct Models owner Derek Hay told XBIZ. “She’s super busy and we’ve been getting reports back that this girl is extraordinary. Girls like this don’t come around very often.”
Hay continued, “She’s very hot. She knows exactly what she wants to do. She likes being in this business. She’s tremendously ambitious and enthusiastic and she has quite a mature head on her shoulders for being 20.”
Brinx at press time already had performed in scenes for Evil Angel, Digital Sin, PornPros, Amateur Allure, FTVGirls, Nubiles, ATKingdom and Hard X, which captured her in “Anal Cuties 2,” which has a tentative release date of May 15.
“That was a super fun scene and working with [the director] Mason was amazing," Brinx said. "I had never worked with a female director before and it was such a great experience. And the male talent was amazing himself.”
Brinx performed with veteran stud Mick Blue in the anal scene, which was the third of her career.
“It went really well, very smoothly,” she said. “I’m still fairly new to doing anal. Mason said that it looked awesome.”
Brinx told XBIZ she did her first anal scene with Johnny Castle for PornPros and her second anal encounter was with Mike Adriano, whose movies are distributed by Evil Angel. The titles of each movie had not been finalized at press time.
It turns out Brinx just started practicing anal sex in her personal life about a month before throwing down on camera.
“I’m very new to anal in general. I think what helped me is my boyfriend is very large and that prepared me for these other ones,” she joked. “Me and him practiced it a lot. As soon as I felt like I was very comfortable doing it I said let’s just start doing it on screen.”
Brinx possessed that go-for-it attitude even on her first day under the lights. She said that while driving with her boyfriend to their virgin shoot in Toronto they only briefly entertained turning the car around.
“We kind of just stared at each other and we took a deep breath and then we walked right for the door,” Brinx said. “All of the crew for Mofos was extremely nice. They were such great people and we felt very comfortable the moment we walked in.”
She added, “It was a little nerve-wracking, of course, as soon as the cameras turned on. But since we were very comfortable with each other it almost felt like the cameras weren’t there and we were able to get into it. We just did what we do regularly."
The first boy/girl scene she did in L.A. was with four-time and reigning XBIZ Male Performer of the Year, James Deen, for Digital Sin. The scene entailed Brinx dressed like a doll for the studio’s “Innocence of Youth 8,” which will be released on May 14.
“And he was dressed up like my master,” she said. “I had never done something like that like before.
“James is a very nice person and so was the entire production crew of [Digital Sin]. So it just came naturally. I didn’t get scared and I wasn’t nervous or anything. In our personal life, [my boyfriend] and I swing. We’re very comfortable being around other men and couples.”
Brinx revealed she also watched a fair amount of adult movies with her boyfriend before taking the plunge, and while they’d talked about doing porn a few times, “we never thought it would become a reality.”
“I kind of just thought a girl like me from Toronto… I thought it was more mainstream L.A. I come from a pretty small town. I didn’t really expect for this to happen,” she said.
The starlet said she’d never done any modeling before porn. “When I was younger I tried to get into modeling but I was always told I was too short, so that kind of just pushed me away from it for a while.”
Now that she's experienced some different kinds of shoots she pointed to the role-playing as one of her favorites parts of porn. “I love the acting aspect of it,” said Brinx, who will turn 21 on Aug. 4.
Brinx attended beauty school for hair and makeup after graduation, but two months later she decided it wasn’t for her.
“I was out of work for a bit and then that's when I became a housekeeper/maid for the elderly,” she said. “I was helping elderly women clean their homes when they weren’t able to. It was really great, very rewarding. It was great to help people who needed it.”
When she’s not working she loves watching scary movies and comedies on Netflix with a special affinity for “pretty much any Adam Sandler movie.”
“And I love to cook. I’m an awesome cook. I always make chicken fried rice and burritos,” she said, adding she also likes to watch sports, not play. “My favorite sport to watch is probably soccer and I like MMA fighting. UFC and Bellator interests me a lot.”
She said her stage name is inspired by "weed" and "money."
“I didn’t want to be a name that just kind of gets lost in all the other names,” Brinx said. “I like to smoke weed, so Marley fits perfectly. And Brinx for my last name because Brinx is a money truck. After kind of thinking about it I thought that fits perfectly. Weed and money make the world go round.”
She'll see where porn takes her for a few years and then “my boyfriend and I would like to open our own production company.”
“Right now, he’s actually an MMA fighter. His career is about to take off and so is mine. We’re both really enjoying it," Brinx said.
She’s booked again with Digital Sin, Evil Angel and PornPros, among others, in the coming weeks.
“I’ve met a lot of interesting characters and made a lot of good friends so far,” Brinx said. “Everyone seems to be very welcoming and very nice and sweet. I haven’t run into any problems so far.
"From what I’ve seen so far, the industry seems pretty great.”
