LOS ANGELES — The Tom of Finland Foundation is having a fundraiser for erotic photographer Rick Castro this Sat., Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. at the Faultline Bar in Los Angeles as part of their upcoming Tom's Garage event.
Castro, curator of Antebellum Fetish Art Gallery in Hollywood, won a Hall of Fame Award from the Tom of Finland Foundation for years of commitment to the erotic art community and works such as "13 Years of Bondage" and "Hustler White."
Castro has been recovering after being attacked on the Los Angeles subway.
"On February 14, I was attacked on the Metro Red Line,” Castro said. “I sustained a leg injury, which has put me out of commission. As an independent artist, taking time for healing has placed a huge financial burden to contend with."
The Tom of Finland Foundation was co-founded in 1984 by the late artist Touko Laaksonen, a.k.a. Tom of Finland, whose illustrations had a major influence on erotic gay art. Laaksonen died in Helsinki, Finland on Nov. 7, 1991 at the age of 71.
The Faultline Bar is located at 4216 Melrose Ave.
