National Coalition for Sexual Freedom Announces NCSF Consent Summit

SEATTLE The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) has announced that the NCSF Consent Summit will take place on Sat., Apr. 23 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Seattle office of the Center for Sex-Positive Culture, located at 1602 15th Ave W. The event is sponsored by the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival and the Center for Sex-Positive Culture.

Author and sex educator Tristan Taormino will give the keynote speech from noon-1 p.m. Taormino has written eight books, including "The Ultimate Guide to Kink" and "The Feminist Porn Book: The Politics of Producing Pleasure." As the head of Smart Ass Productions, Taormino has directed and produced 24 sex education and erotic films. 

Along with Taormino, other experts who will headline the event's panel discussions and workshops include Judge Rudy Serra, Brett Houghton, Sar Surmick, Jim Duvall, Judy Guerin, Kevin Carlson, consent activist Kitty Stryker and NCSF President Susan Wright. 

Topics will include "Consent and the Law," "Consent Activism: Past, Present and Future," "Affirmative Consent and College Campuses," "Negotiation and Consent," "Train the Trainers: How to Educate About Consent" and "Consent in Power Exchange Relationships." 

In 1997, NCSF was formed by a small group of pro-BDSM activists led by Susan Wright. NCSF has focused on civil liberties for BDSM, swing and polyamory practitioners and has worked with a long list of organizations during its 19-year history, from the Free Speech Coalition to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
