ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — Shine Louise Houston, founder and director of Pink and White Productions, will lecture on the social benefits of adult entertainment at Sonoma State University in Northern California on Mon., Apr. 11 from 12 noon-12:50 p.m. Her lecture, titled "The Value of Pornography: Queer Visibly and the Sexual Landscape," is free and open to the public.
Houston's lecture will be part of the Queer Studies Lecture Series: Spring 2016, which is presented by Sonoma State University's Women and Gender Studies Department. All lectures in the series take place in Ives Hall 101.
A spokesperson for the series said, "Shine Louise Houston's works have become the gold standard of adult cinema, internationally screened from Amsterdam to New Zealand and recognized among the big wave of women-produced porn. Houston's unique, diverse films span gender and desire to offer honest and inclusive portraits of queer sexuality. Houston will present on the social value of pornography and reflect on today's porn landscape, arguing that there's a lot of room and need to create adult content that's real, respectful, powerful, ethical and political."
