LONDON — Jerry Barnett’s long-awaited book taking a look at sexual freedoms in the U.K. is now available.
“Porn Panic!” went on sale globally today under the Zero Books label. Zero Books, described as a “cutting-edge” political publisher, picked up the title last year.
“Porn Panic!” charts the rise of a new anti-sex, pro-censorship movement and takes a look at the new conservatives who have set out to rein in pornography, erotica and free speech in general.
Barnett is calling on supporters to help support his campaigning work at Sex & Censorship, a U.K.-based free speech and sexual freedom group he founded three years ago, by purchasing the book.
“I formed the Sex & Censorship campaign in 2013 in response to my fears over growing attacks on free speech and sexual freedom in the U.K.,” Barnett said. “Around the same time, I began work on a book describing the dangerous political climate.
“Narrow attacks on pornography and strip clubs had given way to broader assaults on sexual imagery, and in turn these were giving way to an all-out war on free expression ranging from music video to offensive tweets.”
The 232-page book, in paperback and for the Kindle, is now available through Amazon U.K. and Amazon U.S., as well as Foyles, Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Wordery and Indie Bound.
