SAN FRANCISCO — Bay Area-based adult retail chain Good Vibrations has announced their acquisition of Camouflage, located at 1329 Pacific Ave. in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Camouflage, a retail fixture in Downtown Santa Cruz for 36 years, has been owned and operated by Ken Vinson. Camouflage’s original owner, Joan Levine, opened the store in 1980 — and Vinson and his late wife, Shannon Collins, became the new owners in 2006. Vinson operated Camouflage with Collins until her death in 2012.
A spokesperson for Good Vibrations described Camouflage as a “fun, friendly and positively sexy place to buy lingerie, sexy costumes, and showcase a selection of sex toys in its smaller back room.”
Ken Vinson said, "Good Vibrations has been a friend and a partner of Camouflage for a long time. I am thrilled to be able to pass the torch to such an organization for whom we have so much respect. I know they will carry on Camouflage's mission of sex-positivity and continue to be a great resource for Santa Cruz for many years to come."
Jackie Rednour-Bruckman, executive vice president of Good Vibrations, said, "When Ken reached out to us, it seemed like a natural fit. And we are happy to keep Camouflage thriving in such a wonderful community for years to come. While part of the Good Vibrations family, Camouflage will continue to run independently and retain its unique and playful spirit. Long-time staff are still at the helm to help provide a fun and sexy place along Pacific Ave. in Downtown Santa Cruz, Calif."
Good Vibrations has stores in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland and Palo Alto in Northern California as well as a store in Brookline, Mass.
