LOS ANGELES — Evil Angel Video has received 58 nominations in the 2017 XBIZ Awards, to be held on Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles and hosted by Ron Jeremy.
Eighteen Evil Angel filmmakers received nominations, while the company itself is up for Studio of the Year and Trans Studio of the Year. In addition to an abundance of gonzo nominations, Evil Angel is being recognized for founder John Stagliano’s feature “Hard in Love.”
“People love gonzo sex,” Stagliano said. “It has dominated the market for years. But for sure, good narrative stories have been undervalued. It is exciting to see porn get better. As evidenced by the nominations for ‘Hard in Love’ and the ‘I Blackmailed My...’ series, Evil is much more than a gonzo company. In all our movies, we tease girls’ bodies and faces, while others tease situations. But we also tease situations, and we work harder at good sex and good build-up and set-up to the sex.”
Stagliano’s two-part “Hard in Love” received eight nominations, including All-Girl Series of the Year. The first installment was recognized for Best Actress: All-Girl Release for Misha Cross, Best Sex Scene: All-Girl for Cross, Jessie Volt and Proxy Paige, and Best Editing — and Stagliano was nominated for Director of the Year: Feature Release.
“Hard in Love 2” was nominated for All-Girl Release of the Year: Feature and Best Actress: All-Girl Release for Samantha Bentley.
Jonni Darkko, Maestro Claudio, Manuel Ferrara and Dana Vespoli were nominated in the Director of the Year: Body of Work category. Darkko’s “Adriana Chechik: The Ultimate Slut” and Holly Hendrix’s Anal Experience” are competing for Performer Showcase of the Year.
Ferrara’s “Dirty Talk” was nominated for Gonzo Series of the Year, and Ferrara is up for Male Performer of the Year. Vespoli was nominated for Girl/Girl Performer of the Year, and Maestro Claudio and his BAM Visions partners Mick Blue and Anikka Albrite received a Gonzo Release of the Year nomination for “Mick Loves Anikka.”
Albrite is up for Female Performer of the Year, while Blue is competing for Male Performer of the Year. Rocco Siffredi was nominated for Foreign Male Performer of the Year as well as Foreign Non-Feature Release of the Year for “Rocco Siffredi Hard Academy 1” and “Rocco’s Italian Porn Boot Camp 2,” and Rocco Siffredi Productions is up for Foreign Studio of the Year.
Aiden Starr received six nominations, including Director of the Year: Non-Feature Release and Gonzo Release of the Year for “Anal Sex Slaves 2”—which is also up for Gonzo Series of the Year. Other Starr nominations include “Black Snake Oil 2” for Interracial Release of the Year, “Lesbian Anal Sex Slaves 2” for Fetish Release of the Year and “Hot for Transsexuals 2” for Trans Release of the Year.
Joey Silvera’s “Rogue Adventures 44” and Vespoli’s “Girl-Boy 2” are up for Trans Release of the Year.
Spanish star Nacho Vidal received six nominations, including Foreign Non-Feature Release of the Year for “Nacho Loves Nekane” and Latin-Themed Release of the Year noms for four films he directed: “Nacho’s Young Latinas,” “Nacho’s Dangerous Curves,” “Nacho’s Fucking Mansion” and “Nacho’s Street Legal.” And Vidal’s work inspired a Foreign Studio of the Year nomination as well.
Kevin Moore’s “I Blackmailed My...” movies were acknowledged with a nomination for Vignette Series, while Bryan Gozzling was nominated for Gonzo Series of the Year for his “Hookup Hotshot” line. Aiden Riley was nominated for Performer Showcase of the Year for “Yhivi Does It” and Fetish Release of the Year for “Fetish Fanatic 19,” and David Perry is nominated for Best Foreign Non-Feature Release for “The Tit Hunter 2.”
Lexington Steele’s “Lex’d” is up for Interracial Release of the Year, and Silvera’s “Ass Tricks” is up for Gonzo Release of the Year.
In addition to Studio of the Year nominations, Evil Angel’s collaboration with Gamma Entertainment on FreePornDay.com is being considered for Marketing Campaign of the Year. Evil Angel’s 58 XBIZ Awards nominations spanned 28 categories, with 36 movies mentioned.
“Evil directors own their own product,” Stagliano said. “They are the creative force behind Evil’s success. Evil Angel is the vehicle by which our directors can more easily explore the porn art form.”
