NEW YORK — HBO this week released a trailer for the forthcoming eight-episode drama, “The Deuce,” which follows the story of the rise of the porn industry in New York’s Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s.
In the “The Deuce,” actor James Franco plays twin brothers Vincent and Frankie Martino who become fronts for the mob while operating out of Times Square. Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal plays sex worker Candy who gravitates toward the porn industry.
Franco is no stranger to movies documenting the adult biz.
His Rabbit Bandini Productions company produced “Kink,” the documentary about Kink.com that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013.
He also starred in “King Cobra,” the 2016 drama that documents the murder of gay porn producer Bryan Kocis in 2007.
The first season for “The Deuce” debuts Sept. 10. Its trailer can be seen here.
