Stockroom.com Acquires Stormy Leather

LOS ANGELES — Online fetish specialty store Stockroom.com has acquired San Francisco-based Stormy Leather, a store known for its fetish clothing and toys.

Stockroom Marketing Director Juli Crockett told XBIZ that Stormy's owners approached her company in January with the proposition of taking over the store after they retired. She said Stockroom accepted eagerly.

Stockroom has brought the entire Stormy team on board and is now in the process of redesigning Stormy's retail store. Crockett said their in-house head design department is taking the reigns, much like they did when they reinvigorated Syren's L.A. store, and complete renovating Stormy's San Francisco storefront.

"They've got a huge, awesome space," Crockett said. "The focus [of the store] will be on Stormy's couture end. I mean, Stormy Leather corsets are one of a kind."

Crockett said the inside of the new store will have a boutique feel and will encompass Stormy's past traditions of hosting gallery shows featuring fetish art, as well has holding a University educational series.

Crockett said Stockroom will maintain Stormy's business ethic and product line, while incorporating its own BDSM style and fetish flair.

"We're bringing [Stockroom's] wholesale segment — which is the fast growing part of the company — and combining it with the amazing manufacturing and wholesale segments [of Stormy]," Crockett said.

Stockroom also will make Stormy products available in more retail stores around the country, Crockett said.
