Sex Expo Wraps With Record Attendance

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Sex Expo New York, presented by Chaturbate, bid adieu today with more attendees flocking to the event to check out the latest and up-and-coming pleasure products and services, along with sex-positive educational sessions presented by The Pleasure Chest and the day’s entertainment, raffles and giveaways.

The Sex Expo’s center stage remained crowded throughout the day as various participating sponsors hit the stage to announce raffle winners, host contests — which ranged from trivia to lap dances — and present short product demos and offer sex tips and advice.

Sexpert Ducky Doolitte hosted a trivia contest in which participants had the opportunity to win Sola massagers. Her questions focused on the simple things that people do that can make them “sexy.”

“Sex is how you live,” Doolittle told the crowd surrounding the Sex Expo center stage. “It’s the color panties you where, how you do your hair — it’s not just intercourse, I want you to have a wide definition of sex.”

Taking a cue from Tinder, Montreal-based Miss VV's Mystery is a kegel exerciser that is also designed to please remotely by connecting the device to partners that are connected through the app, which allows women to pick and choose who she wants to be controlling her stimulation.

Designed to help women locate and tone their pelvic muscles, Miss On the Go features a mobile app and is the debut sex toy from Miss VV’s Mystery — a pleasure products company based in Montreal, Quebec.

“Our product is all about women’s empowerment,” said Véronique Verreault of Miss VV's Mystery. “The woman can take kegel fitness into her own hands or pick one of the app’s members to control it.”

Biem Team showcased its app, which connects users with medical professionals for a variety of services, including STD testing which can be done at a local lab or through the app, users can arrange for a lab technician to come to his/her home.

“Biem is designed to empower conversations about sex,” said Bryan Stacy from Biem, noting that the app allows sex partners to connect and share their STD status through the app — including via notifications on the user’s mobile device. Stacy told XBIZ that although the app is currently only available in New York, it will expand to California and other states.

Maia Toys showcased its newest product, the Angel vibrator, at the Sex Expo. Crafted in 100 percent medical-grade silicone, the Angel is "an extra-strength, purple bullet featuring 25 vibrating functions." Accented with a crystal gem base, the Angel is USB rechargeable and fully submersible under water.

Maia Toys’ VP of sales Nicole Talley told XBIZ about Maia Toys’ recent revamp, which includes an upcoming new website and new packaging. The company also recently announced the addition of Lisa Hanna to the team as president of sales.

“We are so excited to have Lisa onboard,” Talley said. “We’ll be hitting the road together soon!”

Diamond Sponsor Drilldo showcased its debut range of household drill-powered vibrators at the Sex Expo. Anthony Pingicer said that Drilldo gained good exposure on social media by offering a photo opp with the handheld drill-powered Drilldo and a construction worker hat to complete the look.

Pjur showcased its array of body-friendly lubricants that don’t contain possibly harmful ingredients such as preservatives or fragrances. The company has been around for around 20 years and according to a company representative, pjur’s primary objective is to offer lubes that are the closest to natural lubrication as possible.

“[pjur] is great for people who don’t like lube,” she said. “ It allows people to lubricate naturally.”

It’s The Bomb showcased its wide selection of erotic soaps, bath bombs, bath salts and more, in addition to debuting its new Lusty Pillows. It’s The Bomb is partnering with adult starlets and cam models to have their sexy images printed on throw and body pillows to sell to fans — and split the profits.

“Who doesn’t want to go to bed with their favorite porn star,” It’s The Bomb’s “Dirty Diana” said.

San Diego-based Velvet Cock debuted the patented Velvet Thruster in four different shapes. The Velvet Cock toy not only thrusts but also bends.

“This is our first weekend selling this product and we’ve gotten really great reception at the show,” Velvet Cock’s Richard Thruster said. “We brand ourselves as gender-neutral as possible — we’re not a ‘woman’s toy’ or a ‘male toy.’”

New York-based StripXpertease showcased its erotic dance classes with a performance at Sex Expo’s center stage along with a booth manned by instructor Selma.

“The owner (Kim) founded StripXpertease 12 years ago to let women know that they don’t need to be at a strip club — or even own a stripper pole – to be a stripper,” she said.

The Door is a New York-based nonprofit organization that offers a wide range of services — from dancing and art classes to access to mental wellness experts and more — for free.

“We decided to participate in the Sex Expo because we want to put ourselves in the position of our members — and this is where they are,” said Tatiana, a representative from The Door. “Being here has absolutely paid off. While some people come up to us wondering what we’re doing here, the reaction overall has been really positive and appreciative.”
