Univ. Newspaper Covers Porn Star’s Legal Ambitions

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Adult star Anita Cannibal, a graduating senior at California State Northridge, was profiled in an extensive feature in her college's student newspaper detailing her ambitions to become a lawyer. Cannibal recently was accepted to The University of West Los Angeles School of Law.

The 36-year-old Cannibal is a veteran of the adult industry, having gotten her start in 1994. Cannibal has performed in more than 100 adult movies, according to IAFD.com and has worked for companies such as Vivid, Metro, Sin City, Legend, Adam & Eve and Evil Angel.

Daily Sundial reporter Kriti Sood got Cannibal to open up about her time as an adult star, stripper, escort and drug addict.

"I was always into it even as a little girl," Cannibal told the Sundial. "I was born an exhibitionist. You know how some people are born gay. I guess the glitter and glam from the movies in [the] 70s, when I was growing up, impacted me. I made a lot of money from dancing. I made like a million bucks when I was hot. Now, I am starving like any other student. I don't dance anymore. I don't feature.

"Going to brothels and getting licensed as a legal prostitute was the coolest thing," she said. "As a student, I had no social life, no contact with sexuality. I made 30-grand in 21 days last winter at brothels."

Life hasn't been picturesque on the Northridge campus for Cannibal, though. She describes being subject to other students' ridicule after posting on the CSUN MySpace group.

"They were just attacking me for attending school, for everything," Cannibal said. "If they understood some of the ignorant things they say, I really think they wouldn't say all this."

While one professor called police to escort Cannibal out of class, she received praise from another faculty member who touted her communication skills.

"She has a strong capability in communication," Daniel Degravel, a professor in the Department of Management, told the Sundial. "When she makes team presentations, she is the leader in the team. She communicates very well. If people have negative things to say, then that's not good. You can't judge people. If something is legal, then the next layer is moral layer. Moral layer is personal. It is not a reason to criticize or make bad comments."

Cannibal is a business, finance and real estate major at CSUN and plans to open her own business after law school, which will provide online tutoring from models in various stages of undress.
