Eros Association Surveys Adult Media to Establish Best Practices

AUSTRALIA — The Eros Association, described as "Australia's industry association for adult retail, wholesale, media and entertainment," has recently put out a survey to help establish an adult media "code of ethics" based on responses.

The survey, which is partially based around the "Model Bill of Rights" established by the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC) from the U.S., is seeking to canvass the opinions of Australia-based adult movie performers, producers and directors to establish best practices for the industry.

According to a representative, "Australia has a niche, but growing, set of adult media production companies, many of which have won international acclaim for feminist, queer and 'art-porn' aesthetics." They referred to a Vice.com article on the Australian adult industry.

"Production of sexually explicit films is currently illegal in Australia except for the Australian Capital Territory," they added. "Because of this, many Australian companies film their scenes overseas and host content on international servers."

The Eros Association, which has "represented different facets of 'adults-only' industries for over 25 years," is seeking to use this code of ethics to help "professionalize the industry" and "advocate for the complete legalization" of adult media in Australia.
