Curtis Shears, who shares a Mississauga, Ontario, apartment with the actress, told the Toronto Star that she feared for her life after a photo shoot in Conshohocken, Pa.
Summers, whose real name is Natel King, was last seen Feb. 29 walking to a corner bar after completing a film shoot at a two-story apartment. She never returned.
Known also as “the Sexy Canadian,” she has posed in adult magazines and online sites for nearly five years.
Shears, who also works in the adult-entertainment industry, told the paper that she was worried about “something that was happening” at the shoot.
“She first left me a message, saying that she was kind of freaked out by this guy [the photographer],” Shears said. But later he asked if she was “afraid of not getting paid,” or “getting killed,” and she said, “I don’t know, both.”
Shears, who has known the blonde 5’8”, 115 lb. actress for 10 years, said that he “was joking about [her] getting killed, but she was really worried about herself.”
“I couldn’t get any more details because she said she couldn’t talk because there were other people there,” Shears said. “So she said she would call me back in five minutes but she never did.”
Summers left her home on Feb. 27 and drove by herself to the shoot, which Shears said she had arranged through an online adult entertainment booking site.
She was supposed to head for Detroit for another photo shoot right after the shoot in Conshohocken, Shears said.
The police were contacted last week after she failed to return home as planned.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday it has no solid clues in the case but six Conshohocken detectives are on the case. Last week, police detectives showed up at the apartment where her car had been found. Authorities, armed with a search warrant, carried out bags and boxes of evidence, including photography lights and other equipment.
The photographer was interrogated and released, the DA’s office said.
Twenty-three-year-old Summers, a second-year student at Memorial University in Newfoundland, was taking correspondence courses in psychology.
According to a Canadian wire service, she started as an erotic entertainer when she was 18, using a web camera in her home and posting shots of herself online.
