"The site just went live last night and it's on fire," VCX President David Sutton told XBIZ. "Fantastic response, from our customers and the media. Anything with Kirdy Stevens and the Taboo series is huge."
The titles available from the site, all directed by Stevens, are "Taboo" Vol. 1 - 6, "The Animal in Me," "Daisy Chain," and "Playing with Fire."
"We've sold more 'Taboo' than anybody," Sutton said. "The VHS was our property, and it was our number-one seller for many years. 'Taboo' is the preeminent series in the adult space of all time. I have never seen fans that are so loyal."
"People want better quality. They want the classics. They want a story," Sutton said. "I laugh when I hear people say 'Nobody wants a story.' You can buy wall-to-wall sex for $3 for four hours. It doesn't have the appreciation factor of the classics. We're holding our own. Our sales have not dropped."
Future plans call for cooperation in distribution and branding between the two companies. "There's a lot of duplication of effort," Sutton said. "You want to save some money and continue to deliver the product."
