LOS ANGELES — Comedienne and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winner Bianca Del Rio will host the Str8UpGayPorn Awards on Oct. 21.
Del Rio won the sixth season of “Drag Race” and has toured extensively, starred in two films and written a bestselling book. She will take the stage of the historic Avalon Hollywood nightclub.
She was chosen to host, she notes, due to her “extensive, critically acclaimed, award-winning work in the porn industry, in the pivotal plot scenes before any sex happens.”
“I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to give my insightful, uplifting, genteel commentary at this prestigious event. It’s sure to be an enchanting evening. Hopefully, I don’t offend anyone and get thrown out like I did at that awful Make-A-Wish Foundation event. Children are assholes.”
Zachary Sire, editor of Str8UpGayPorn, said Del Rio is “going to bring the house down. She’s in a league of her own. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her hosting.”
Red-carpet arrivals are scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony at 8:30 p.m. An afterparty will be held at Bardot nightclub, upstairs at the Avalon.
Last year’s inaugural festivities were held in New York and hosted by comedienne Sandra Bernhard.
