COLT President John Rutherford told XBIZ that one of the producers of "Work Out" had originally contacted him to see if Weston would be interested in working out at the reality show's gym, Sky Sport and Spa. Weston is a personal trainer at a gym in Kansas City, Miss., and Rutherford said the producer knew one of Weston's clients.
"While he was there Kathy’s reality show was shooting a segment," he said. "Gage got lucky and appeared on both shows at different times."
Weston appeared on "Work Out" in May.
Rutherford said that Weston, who lives in Kansas City, Mo., still is getting used to his notoriety, and that his mainstream media appearances have sparked a surge in interest and traffic on his fan site GageWeston.com .
"He says that when he walks around town, whether it’s in Kansas City or any other city making his COLT Bar appearances, he gets noticed for being 'the COLT Man on TV,'" Rutherford said.
Rutherford said Weston's realness — he was a Marine before becoming a COLT Man, and currently is in a relationship with fellow COLT Man Luke Garrett — is what makes him so popular, and many fans have posted inquiries to when COLT will develop its own reality show.
"That’s all I’ll say," Rutherford said.
Griffin also appears to be a fan of Weston and asked him to "spoon" her after admiring his muscles.
"Can't you gays throw one back once in a while?" Griffin said. "[Weston] was insanely hot, and he also thought that I was hot in a way no straight guy ever would."
