BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Dame Products is making their sex toy design process more of a collaborative effort with the launch of Dame Labs by inviting consumers to offer their inspirations, input and feedback by signing up as members.
Dame Products says it hopes to conduct more people-centered research based on sex toy users’ diverse personal experiences. “Through this collaborative effort, we strengthen our commitment to closing the pleasure gap for good,” the company said.
Anyone interested in becoming a Dame Labs member can fill out a survey with questions about race, education and relationship status and Dame Products will choose testers based on the demographics.
Members will be able to volunteer to test out Dame’s product prototypes and offer feedback on design elements such as color and where the control buttons go. According to Fast Company, “prototyping and feedback aren’t new to Dame Products, which has included more than 6,000 people in its product development process, including 400 testers.”
Dame Products made history in 2014 when its flagship product, Eva became the most highly crowd-funded adult product on Indiegogo, raising $575k in less than two months — more than 10 times their initial goal of $50k.
Last November, Dame Products became the first sex toy on Kickstarter, with a campaign for its second product, Fin — an ergonomically designed finger vibe.
Dame Products coined the term “Pleasure Gap” to describe the disparity between men and women’s pleasure during sex. Eva — and the revamped Eva II — is hands-free vibes that provide women clitoral stimulation during sex with unique flexible wings that keep the vibrator in place by tucking under a woman’s labia majora.
