SAN DIEGO — Fans, friends and family offered their thoughts and prayers on Twitter this week after Helix Studios performer Shane Cook disclosed on the social media site that he’s been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a form of cancer.
“Hello, everyone, I’m posting this picture because I’m tired of being embarrassed about something I have no control over," the 22-year-old Cook wrote on Tuesday. “So about three or four months ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 of Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer and, in short, am handling it very well.
“I’ve had some hair loss, and I’ve lost muscle,” he wrote. “I’m going to keep doing what I need to do for myself and look forward to filming later on.”

Cook started shooting with Helix last year in titles like “Dig In,” “Alone at Last,” Cook’s Cock” and “Shane’s Seduction.” He earned a Best Newcomer nom at the Grabbys in the spring.
With Hodgkin’s lymphoma, as the cancer progresses, it limits the body's ability to fight infection. Lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, or groin may swell. Fatigue, fever, and chills are some symptoms. And treatments include chemotherapy, radiation, and in rare cases stem-cell transplant.
The one-year survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma is about 92 percent. The five-year survival rate is about 86 percent.
