HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Indie adult filmmaker Adam Christopher is tub-thumping this weekend’s digital download and VOD release of his film "Bad Wives."
Christopher (aka TarantinoXXX) has “taken on one of the biggest projects of his career, a remake of Vivid’s ‘Bad Wives,’” a rep said. Paul Thomas, whom Christopher met and befriended while filming a documentary, directed the original, released more than two decades ago.
"They discussed ‘Bad Wives’ and the possibility of Adam shooting a remake. Paul wished Adam luck and gave his blessing to make the movie. Now, one year later, after four months of preproduction, scriptwriting, hiring the crew and talent, and a week of shooting, the remake of ‘Bad Wives’ is here. It’s Adam’s first original feature movie.”
Alura Jenson and Edyn Blair topline as housewives in troubled marriages whose paths cross with “a mysterious bartender (Christopher), who seduces them and manipulates them into doing something very dark and drastic,” the rep notes.
The sex flick was filmed under Christopher’s Creation of Adam Productions banner. In addition to Blair, Christopher and Jenson, the cast includes Sailor Luna, Norah Nova and Fallon West with Indiana Bones, Jimmy Broadway, Brock Doom and Brad Newman. Additional cast members include Betty Black, Joe Filippone and Eddie Wood.
"This project is 20 years in the making,” Christopher said. “It was an honor to meet Paul Thomas a year ago. We talked at length about his career and ‘Bad Wives’ and how he and the movie were influential to my career as a director in adult. I went all-in on this project. I rewrote the script, hired amazing talent and got the old-school flavor by bringing on Chris King, who’s been shooting porn since the 1990s. This film has several homages to the original; we even remixed some of the original music.”
Christopher approached Jenson two years ago about the project. “I was impressed with this young filmmaker and his idea of a major movie remake, which seemed impossible for an independent studio,” she said. “Adam directed a few scenes that I performed in, and all on his own budget. I was humbled and inspired with his confidence and enthusiasm.”
Jensen notes she was going through “a terrible divorce” and the project enabled her to “close that chapter of my life. Adam provided an exceptional environment on set from start-to-finish and wowed the cast with his vision and skill. The adult industry is witnessing an extraordinary shift – all at the hands of a dude who looks like Jeff Goldblum’s illegitimate son.”
Christopher notes a short documentary, currently titled “Stolen Cookie,” is on the boards for 2019 that chronicles the production of his “Bad Wives” remake. Thomas and original costar Steven St. Croix are featured,
