Encoding.tv, Wanted List Partner

LOS ANGELES — Full service digital encoding company Encoding.tv has entered into a long-term contract to provide its services to online rental specialists WantedList.com. Anh Tran, co-founder of WantedList.com, told XBIZ that his company intends to soon launch video-on-demand and pay-per-view platforms.

Encoding.tv is tasked with bringing the more than 20,000 titles in WantedList.com’s library into a digital format. Encoding.tv specializes in Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media and Real Player.

“We are very pleased to be working with WantedList.com,” said Wil Huang, director of operations for Encoding.tv. “Anh and Danny [Ting, WantedList.com co-founder] are great people and we are looking forward to a long-term business relationship.”

Tran said that launching an online distribution option in multiple formats is a natural extension to WantedList.com’s current business model. The company is known as the “Netflix of porn” for its similar service to the mainstream DVD rental company.

“The guys at Encoding.tv are very good at what they do,” Tran said. “As we move from physical distribution to digital distribution we needed the right company with the right processes that can get things done in a timely manner.”

Encoding.tv is handling everything from the calibration and encoding process to bitrates, frame rates, audio codecs and video codecs.
