WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — A premiere screening Sunday night for the upcoming documentary “After Porn Ends 3” drew a starry audience, including many of the film’s subjects, to the Harmony Gold screening room in West Hollywood.
“After Porn Ends 3” is the second sequel to the hit 2012 documentary of the same name that examines the success stories and post-adult lives of some of the industry’s biggest names.
“We’re the ‘Avengers’ of documentaries!” quipped co-producer Bryce Wagoner at the post-screening Q&A. Among those in attendance Sunday were Christy Canyon, Luc Wylder and Alexandra Silk, Priya Rai, Herschel Savage and Brittni Ruiz De La Mora (aka Jenna Presley), all of whom are featured in the doc.
The film additionally profiles Jenteal, Tera Patrick and Bonnie Rotten. Industry notables with significant screen time include Buck Angel, Joanna Angel, Manuel Ferrara, Kayden Kross, Abigail Mac, Kira Noir, Romi Rain, TeeReel, Nicolette Shea and Michael Vegas, among others.
In addition to Wagoner, the doc’s producing team, including Melissa Hill, Michael Weiss, Andy Weiss and the WeBros Entertainment team, were in attendance alongside director Brittany Andrews.
The series asks “honest questions” and finds “honest answers, I hope,” Wagoner said, while Andrews said her presence behind the camera allowed the opportunity to “look a little deeper, beyond polished responses. I wanted to hear their real stories, their true stories.”
Silk was teary in her appreciation for the film. “I’m so proud, so surprised,” she said. Wylder felt the filmmakers “handled the topic responsibly. I appreciate the balance,” he said, referencing the coverage of De La Mora’s religious awakening and current work as a youth pastor. “If we believe in anti-censorship, we can’t just let it apply to porn,” he said. (Their dog, Zen, who stole the show onscreen by sleeping, and snoring, during their segment, accompanied the couple onstage, where he promptly fell asleep. "Is that dog ever awake?" quipped an audience member.)
Rai said she was “happy and impressed” with the final results, while De La Mora praised her costars. “Whether they had a great experience or not (in the industry), they’re strong and doing everything with their lives,” she said. “It’s so inspiring. I absolutely love the documentary and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
The post-screening Q&A concluded with queries from the audience. Savage urged a young male attendee who was considering a career in adult to focus on fostering connections and empathy for his prospective female costars beyond quick social media hits.
Another attendee asked what performers ought to really do once they put adult entertainment behind them. “Whatever they want to do!” Canyon answered, to a round of applause.
