Wicked Honored With Nearly 100 Noms for 2019 XBIZ Awards

LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures and the lines it distributes have received nearly 100 nominations for the 2019 XBIZ Awards. In total, 17 of the industry powerhouse's feature productions were honored, with nearly half of the nominations going to the quartet of erotic blockbusters created by contract directors Brad Armstrong and Axel Braun — "Fallen II Angels & Demons," "Camgirl," "The Possession of Mrs. Hyde" and "Deadpool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody."

These acclaimed releases from such major in-house imprints as Wicked Comix, Wicked Blockbusters and Wicked Features showcase the gifts of their creators as well as the beauty and talent of iconic Wicked Girl Jessica Drake (she appears in three of the films) and the adult industry's finest A-list performers and technicians.

The nominations that went to celebrated performer, writer, art director and filmmaker Brad Armstrong spoke to the eclectic nature of his talent. "Fallen II Angels & Demons" led the way for Wicked’s in-house productions, earning 15 major nominations. The blockbuster hit's fine performances, taut direction and outstanding production values were recognized with such important nominations as Feature Movie of the Year, Best Actress — Feature Release (Jessica Drake), Best Actor — Feature Release (Brad Armstrong), Best Supporting Actress (Leigh Raven), Best Supporting Actor (Tommy Pistol), Director of the Year — Feature Release (Brad Armstrong), and many more. "Camgirl" received such high profile nominations as Feature Movie of the Year, Best Actress — Feature Release (Kristen Scott), Best Actor — Feature Release (Lucas Frost), Best Supporting Actor (Small Hands) and more.

Armstrong's stylish thematic fantasy "Carnal" received a quartet of major nominations, including All-Sex Release of the Year, two for Best Sex Scene — All-Sex Release (including recognition of the epic four-way featuring Drake, Sean Michaels, Ana Foxxx and trans star Natassia Dreams), and Best Marketing Campaign — Individual Project. Fittingly, the veteran hitmaker was also honored with a nomination for Director of the Year — Body of Work.

Parody king and gonzo virtuoso Axel Braun secured a sprawling assortment of nominations, with the highest tally going to his first original feature in 15 years. "The Possession of Mrs. Hyde" was honored with over a dozen mentions, including Feature Movie of the Year, Best Actress (Avi Love), Best Actor (Seth Gamble), Best Supporting Actress (Kenna James), Best Non-Sex Performance (Tom Byron), Screenplay of the Year (penned by Braun in collaboration with his late father Lasse Braun and son Rikki Braun), Director of the Year — Feature Release, and many more.

In addition to being honored with a Comedy Release of the Year nomination, the Wicked Comix blockbuster "Deadpool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody" earned Jessica Drake her second 2019 XBIZ Best Actress nomination (as Best Actress — Comedy Release). Seth Gamble's incredibly versatile talent earned him his second Best Actor nod (as Best Actor — Comedy Release) for his fine work in the title role, and the film also picked up several additional noms, including a Best Non-Sex Performance mention for Braun. The tireless auteur's first girl/girl production, "Axel Braun's Girlfest," was nominated for All-Girl Release of the Year. And the indefatigable Braun's work over the last 12 months was duly honored with a Best Director — Body of Work nomination.

Industry stalwart Mike Quasar's "Making Ends Meet" earned a trio of impressive nominations, including Couples-Themed Release of the Year, while his hit "Love Junkies" picked up Couples-Themed Release of the Year and Best Actress — Couples-Themed Release (Britney Amber). His Wicked Passions production "Hollywood Ending" earned Tommy Pistol both Best Actor — Couples-Themed Release and Best Sex Scene — Couples-Themed Release (the latter nomination shared with India Summer). Another Wicked Passions feature by Quasar, "High School Reunion," earned Couples-Themed Release of the Year and Best Sex Scene Couples-Themed Release (Reagan Fox and Ryan Mclane) nominations.

In addition to her acting and performing accolades, writer-director-producer-host Jessica Drake’s many nominations included Sexpert of the Year in recognition of her continuing work as a sexual wellness educator, while her ever-expanding mainstream media profile was recognized in the Crossover Star of the Year category.

Veteran filmmaker and 2019 XBIZ Awards Show host Stormy Daniels saw four of her hit films earn nominations, particularly in the comedy categories, where "The Set Up" earned Comedy Release of the Year, Best Actress — Comedy Release (Tasha Reign), Best Actor — Comedy Release (Michael Vegas) and Best Sex Scene — Comedy Release (Reign and Gamble).

Other lines distributed by the company, including Marc Dorcel, were represented by major nominations. And in recognition of the Wicked brand’s continuing success in newer ventures, Wicked Sensual Care, the acclaimed creator of luxurious, cruelty-free and PETA-certified lubricants and enhancers, was recognized with a quartet of impressive nominations.

Given its outstanding track record in production, performance, eroticism and innovation, it came as no surprise that XBIZ should honor Wicked Pictures with two of its most coveted nominations — Studio Site of the Year and Studio of the Year. For his part, Wicked President and Owner Steve Orenstein couldn’t be more pleased to see his in-house directors, contract stars and executives earning such recognition. “As the business continues to change, I’m prouder than ever to see the work of our contract talent stand out from the pack and be recognized," he said. "Of course, all of our great work is not just from our contract players, and I thank all the independent directors, actors and actresses for their hard work as well.”

Wicked Pictures congratulates these valued performers, filmmakers, distribution partners and staff for their 2019 XBIZ nominations. From ambitious high-tech epics to the most intimate of love stories, this forward-thinking studio continues to prove that it is built to last. For a complete list of nominations, see below:
