BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — The auction of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner’s possessions started today, yielding at least one big surprise — Hefner's custom Viagra ring.
The Viagra ring was pointed out by his widow, Crystal Hefner, who tweeted a photo of it during the auction.
The 14K gold and onyx ring, which opens up to hold one Viagra pill, had a winning bid of $22,400.
It was apparently unknown that the ring included its own chamber for the ED pill until auction. It was estimated to fetch between $600-800 prior to the auction.
More than 800 items owned by the Playboy founder who passed away last year — including his numerous smoking jackets in a rainbow of colors, as well as his slippers, pipe and board games — are on the block at the public sale, conducted by Julien’s Auctions.
Proceeds will benefit the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation, a nonprofit supporting numerous organizations defending civil rights and civil liberties.
Through Saturday, the sale is taking place online here and at Julien’s Auctions at 257 N. Canon Dr., Beverly Hills, Calif., 90210.
