MIAMI — A federal judge today sentenced Bryan Deneumostier to a term of three years in prison for his role in StraightBoyz.net, a website that offered videos of straight men being conned into accepting sex acts while blindfolded or wearing blacked-out goggles.
Deneumostier, who posted his material on the site, cross dressed and pretended to be a woman offering anonymous sex. He reassured apprehensive men that there would be no cameras involved. But Deneumostier, who used the screen name “susanleon33326,” let the cameras roll and placed the content on StraightBoyz.net, which he operated.
In sentencing today, Deneumostier’s three-year sentence also includes a stipulation for supervised release for three years.
But at the conclusion of his federal prison sentence, Deneumostier will be deported to Peru, a country he has not lived in for more than 20 years, because he no longer has status in the U.S.
The Justice Department was seeking a sentence of eight years imprisonment for Deneumostier, who pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors over illegal interception of oral communications in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2511.
With the deal, prosecutors agreed to dismiss three counts of violating 18 U.S.C. § 2257, the record-keeping statute for adult producers.
Deneumostier was arrested in July and has been held in custody since then.
StraightBoyz, a $35-a-month membership site that offered an affiliate program, streamed approximately 619 “hook up” videos that depicted sexual activity between Deneumostier and other men, who were mostly procured through Craigslist. The site was seized by the government.
Deneumostier admitted that he recorded himself using Apple iPhones and iPads engaging in sex with about 150 men that were featured on his website and that about 80 of those did not know that he was recording them.
During a search of his home, Deneumostier provided about 30 consent forms from men agreeing to have their shoot posted online — far short of the 619 videos posted.
The indictment and plea agreement refer to three known victims whose identities are being withheld to protect their privacy. The victims had sex with Deneumostier at his home in Homestead, Fla.
Deneumostier told prosecutors that while he operated the site, he had done so on behalf of a Spain-based outfit, which paid him $3,000 a month.
According to court papers, Deneumostier attempted suicide after the FBI served a search warrant on his home that led to him being charged him with federal counts of illegal interception of oral communications and record-keeping violations.
His public defender, in a presentencing memorandum, told the court that Deneumostier “is very remorseful for his actions in this case.” The public defender noted that Deneumostier received scars on both wrists from a mirror used in the suicide attempt.
“The day that the search warrant was served on his home and he reflected on what he had done, he became very distraught and ultimately attempted to commit suicide,” the report said. “Deneumostier is no longer suicidal but is committed to do what he can to ameliorate the damage he has done.
“To the extent he is able, he has tried to assist defense counsel in locating websites still providing access to the videos he recorded in an effort to remove them from the internet.”
