LONDON — Erotic lingerie and sex toy retailer Ann Summers has landed a new store at Gatwick. Yes, the airport.
The new store, launched two weeks ago inside Gatwick’s North Terminal, sells its blue-chip line of sex toys, lingerie and more.
It rubs shoulders with nearby retailers Harrods, Hugo Boss and Ted Baker while offering its exclusive Rampant Rabbit silicone vibrators, cock rings, scented lube and party games such as “Fifty Days of Play.”
Gatwick Airport is the U.K.’s second-largest airport, with about 46 million passengers passing through and offering flights to more destinations than any other airport in the country.
It’s not the first time a sex toy and lingerie retailer has taken space at an airport. Beate Uhse previously had retail outlets at airports in Zurich and Munich. Those locations, however, closed long ago.
Ann Summers is a market leader in the U.K. and Ireland, with 140 stores. The chain started in 1970 with a location in London’s Marble Arch. The company reported $129 million in revenue in 2014.
