LONDON — Boots, one of the largest health-and-beauty retailers in the U.K. and Ireland, has started selling sex toys on its website.
Boots started selling love eggs, vibrators and massaging wands from sex toy maker So Divine. Prices start at £7.99 for toys such as the Vibrating Bullet and go all the way up to £54.99 for a Vibrating Love Egg.
It’s a first of sorts for the chain, which is a subsidiary of Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., and follows the lead of Sainsbury’s, another giant retailer in the U.K.
Boots operates about 2,500 stories in the U.K. and Ireland.
Last month, Sainsbury’s, founded in 1869 and second in size in the country to grocery chain Tesco, struck deals with Rocks-off Ltd. and LELO to sell some of the companies’ products at its brick-and-mortar and online stores.
Boots customers who buy sex toys online can pick them up at the store or have it delivered. But they can be assured that no one is peaking.
Boots said: “Your product will be sent to you or your local store in discreet packaging – so discreet that even our in-store colleagues won’t know what you are collecting.”
