ASACP Returns to The European Summit, Engages in Industry Outreach

LOS ANGELES — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has announced its return to The European Summit (TES), in Lisbon, Portugal, where it will deliver its message of child safety and corporate responsibility to a wide range of digital media business leaders.

According to its promoters, The European Summit is Europe’s leading B2B conference for the online entertainment industries. Set for March 1-4 at The Oitavas Hotel, in Cascais, this executive gathering unites representatives from the affiliate, billing, casual dating, domain name, mobile technology, website services, and traffic segments, for educational sessions, networking, social events and more, delivered with a fresh European focus.

The numerous decision-makers in attendance at TES tackle timely topics, such as the need to protect children in their daily digital lives, providing a vital venue for the association to educate the industry about the benefits and services offered by ASACP.

TES’ Andreas Bischoff says it is important for the industry to support ASACP and to help in the effort to protect children online.

“A truly remarkable team of individuals,” Bischoff says, “ASACP should constantly receive support from our entire industry.”

TES organizers have truly taken this approach to heart, and have long provided ASACP with an unparalleled level of support, including a display table at the event where information about the association will be available, along with prime banner and online ad placement to raise awareness of ASACP and its mission, as well as free show admission, plus a complimentary hotel room during the event dates, and more. This support underpins the effectiveness of ASACP’s European outreach and makes a real difference in the association’s abilities to influence stakeholders.

ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning will participate in the event, where he will meet and network with attendees while explaining the good work that the association does, the many successes it has achieved during its nearly 23-year history, and more — including the role that the newest generation of age verification technology and services play in protecting children online — a current-event topic across Europe and beyond.

“The incredibly generous support that TES has shown over the years to ASACP and its mission of keeping children out of and away from adult entertainment is humbling for us, and is one of the sources of encouragement we rely upon to carry out that mission,” Henning says. “TES’ ongoing generosity helps the association educate companies about its Restricted To Adults (RTA) website label and Child Exploitation Tipline, as well as our insightful Best Practices and Code of Ethics, giving companies the tools they need so they can do the right thing.”

One main focus of Henning’s TES outreach will be to reveal details of ASACP’s new RTA+ program, the association’s newest initiative and an evolution of its globally-lauded RTA program that protects billions of age-restricted web pages from access by minors.

These efforts are only made possible through the generosity of ASACP’s sponsors, so Henning will be explaining the benefits of membership to TES attendees while encouraging more companies to step-up to an industry leadership role by extending their support for the association.

Another main focus of Henning’s TES 2019 participation will be to help pave the way for the coming implementation of the U.K.’s Digital Economy Act and its age verification mandate.

“Mandatory age verification is upon us, and site operators need to be prepared,” Henning concluded. “ASACP is working with tech-forward companies and lawmakers to help make this process as smooth and effective as possible, and can provide answers and guidance for attendees.”
