ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Fetish Con organizers have regained ownership of “Bond Con,” including trademark and domain.
Originally named “Bond Con” when the BDSM-themed trade show first started in 2001, Kink.com founder Peter Acworth acquired the domain and rights to the name in 2007 for a west-coast event after the New York trade show moved to Florida and adopted the name “Fetish Con” in 2003.
According to Event Promoter Genesis Lynn, “We received a message from Peter [Acworth] asking if we’d like to have the ‘Bond Con’ name back. To say we were speechless is an understatement. We cannot begin to thank Peter and Kink.com enough for their generosity and kindness.”
With the domain and trademark back under Fetish Con ownership, a reinvigorated Bond Con will take place during the St. Petersburg trade show this year.
Acworth has stated that he is “delighted” to have helped Fetish Con in any way.
“We at Kink.com had dreamed of hosting an event in conjunction with the Folsom Street Fair here in San Francisco, and hence why we bought the trademark originally when it was available. However, with the Armory now sold, it seems only right that Fetish Con and Bond Con be reunited. Fetish Con is such a wonderful convention, and I hope that, with the two brands reunited, it will grow stronger still over time!”
Fetish Con will take place this year August 8 – 11 at the Hilton St Petersburg Bayfront Hotel.
