LOS ANGELES — Cam star, adult performer and sex worker rights activist Ginger Banks is set to guest on “For the People” with host Judge Herb Dodell tonight at 4 p.m. (PST) on 102.3 FM I Heart Media in Los Angeles.
Banks was previously featured on the show in January when Dodell sought her opinion on the legalization of sex work. With sex workers rights being a hot topic in the upcoming 2020 election, he invited her back on today’s show to discuss some of the candidates and their positions on the matter, a topic that he’s spoken about previously in a recent Daily Beast article. According to a rep, he is “looking forward to going deeper into the FOSTA/SESTA debate” later today.
Regarding the controversial legislation, Dodell said, “The statute is overbroad and violates the First Amendment in that it restrains speech and makes it criminal. It is akin to censorship.”
For her part, Banks says that she is similarly looking forward to joining Dodell again on the air. The performer-turned-activist who released an open video letter to Senator Bernie Sanders about the FOSTA/SESTA bill says that she hopes tonight’s discussion can “open minds and hearts” regarding sex workers rights.
“Ginger presents an interesting perspective,” said Dodell. “The problem is that there is a stigmatization that takes place when people talk about the adult industry. [Performers] are diminished by others because of the business they are in and that is censorship.”
