CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. — The Blatino Erotica Awards will honor performers Jacen Zhu and Max Konnor during Blatino Oasis weekend next month.
Both studs are expected to be in attendance. Blatino Oasis, founded in 2007, is a weekend-long getaway for gay and bi men of color, comprising a wide variety of nightclub events, daytime parties and related celebrations. This year’s event unspools May 3-5.
“Blatino Erotica Awards is the first ceremony of its kind, and has awarded more gay and bisexual men of color in the adult film industry, over the past 13 years, than any awards ceremony on earth,” Joe Hawkins, producer and Blatino Oasis founder, told XBIZ. “From the beginning, our intention has been to recognize the often-overlooked contributions of black gay, Latino and Latinx men who either work in the gay adult entertainment industry or whose amateur work is classified as erotic or sexual in nature."
In choosing to honor Zhu, Hawkins cited the newcomer’s “natural beauty, raw sexuality, adept versatility on film and his ability to work with multiple major studios,” as well as his advocacy work focused on PrEP and combating meth addiction.
Konnor is “handsome, built and hung and knows how to use all three qualities to his advantage. He has been in demand, working with a variety of major gay porn studios. Offscreen, we appreciate how unapologetically vocal he is regarding race issues, to include calling out racism when he encounters it," said Hawkins.
