O.school, Good Vibrations Partner on 'Superpowered' Web Series

SAN FRANCISCOSex-positive retailer Good Vibrations and online media platform O.school have partnered up to produce a short animated web series aimed at reducing shame and inspiring confidence when it comes to self-pleasure.

The “My Sex Toy Gives Me Superpowers” series launched today and its inaugural episode, “Orgasm Island,” is now available.

According to the production team, each 60-second story gives a first-person account of one person’s discovery of self-pleasure and its life-altering impact. “From the discovery of one’s true identity to new confidence in the boardroom, to the power to heal, storytellers bring viewers on a journey as their sex toys transform and empower them,” said a rep.

“Orgasm Island” kicks off the series with one woman’s recollection of a butterfly effect of good set in motion after getting in touch with her own sexuality and letting go of long-held shame.

Echoing the themes of the first episdoe, Andrea Barrica, founder of O.school commented, “Sex toys gave me the power to reimagine myself outside the confines of religious stigma. That transformation provided the self-knowledge and confidence that helped me in all aspects of my life." With the series, she said that she is eager to use her (super)powers to "destroy the culture of shame that leaves so many people feeling alone and helpless."

Carol Queen, PhD and staff sexologist at Good Vibrations said she was struck by the volume of stories the team received about overcoming shame when developing the project. “Sadly, this is too many people’s experience of finding themselves sexually, and I know these little videos will give people hope and inspire them to get more knowledge. It’s not just the sex toy that’s the superpower — it’s the empowerment, the ability to feel whole and content as a sexual person.”
